More Pacific

The first wave 45 Japanese 20mm figures is complete. My second wave is almost done now. They number 52. This will give enough for some good size Bolt Action games plus I am starting play Chain of Command as well. Steve Miller has about 100 Japanese figures as well.

Here is over 100 U. S. Marines ready for paint. I entend to get some more marines from FAA soon. Supports also. 

Pacific WW2

Working on some pacific war stuff presently. I decided to dive into 20mm scale skirmish using Bolt Action as well as Chain of Command. Just started on my Japanese. 

I will post some more as I keep working. 

Bolt Action Fun

We played a few Bolt Action games over the summer. I am just posting some photos for eye candy. I can't really remember the after action reports but hey they're cool photos.

The game lasted about 2 hours with the Germans winning. 

Orcs Continued...

Well simply put... I was delayed on posting. Too many life changes between my posts. But anyhow, here is the pics of the great Orc paintathon. Our friend Steve Miller came over and between us we actually knocked all the primed Orcs out in 48 hrs. That's with sleeping in between !

First session is complete. Base colors on all figures.

Second session complete. Highlights, clear coat and bases done for over 75 Orcs!  

Cole hammered out some Uruk Hai by himself in the next couple of days. 

And a few other odds-n-ends. Not bad for one week!!!  Huzzah!

Orcs, Orcs and More Orcs

My son has been on a tear of all things "Lord of the Rings" for quite some time. I have busied myself with Arthurians for a while so we've decided to merge them for some large LotR games. We will probably use the Too Fat Lardies rules, Dux Britanium. It has a great campaign system and is an excellent set of rules. I have played a campaign previously with Romano-Brits vs. Saxons. This new campaign will be Orcs (with some Uruk-Hai and Goblins mixed in) vs. Rohan.

I am hosting a paint night at my gamers den this Wednesday night. Steve Miller is coming over to show my son a very good fast paint method. The challenge is to get 50 Orcs based painted and washed in one evening. Hmmm... I am skeptical since I am a perfectionist, slow, methodical painter. Hope it works out. Anyways, here are today's results of all the prep work.

This is a very, very old cement tube. Look at the price!  Works as good as the new. 

The part I hate. Assembly. 

Cole is cleaning the plastics now. 

Ok. We cleaned all the mold lines and little nubs. Now time to base em. 

There we go. 69 models ready to go. 

Mounted them on 2" wide card board strips with a dab of hot glue. 

Primed white. Done and ready for paint. The strip in the middle and left adjacent to it where primed with white gesso by krylon. The others with just flat white primer. We'll see which is better. If at all. 

Some New F&IW Troops

My wife and children gave me a real nice Christmas present this past December. A gift certificate for a painting service. I contacted Pictor Studios and arranged the service. The hardest part was trying to pick which figures should be sent and which era. I decided on my French & Indian war figures.  The service was great and the arrived a few days ago. Here are a few quick snapshots. 

BIG MOVE! - To the Great State of TEXAS!

Well its been too long since my last blog.  I have good reason.... we moved.  I have to say it has and still is a great adventure!  Loaded up and headed south at the end of 2013.  

Visited the Alamo... of course!

 Found a home just south of Dallas, Texas.  Photo shows buds just popping at the end of February/begining of March.

 

Now... the unpacking begins.  UGH!!

 I am slowly converting the detached garage/shop into the new war room.  Right now it doesn't have a name but the kids & I are leaning towards "The Warriors Guild".
