Merry Christmas 2017

I managed to complete 24 Norman crosssbow men recently.  They are a mix of Foundry and Crusader minis.  Nothing special but I can use these for Dragon Rampant, Saga or Frostgrave and many other things.

My son and I played a fun game of Saga. He played his Scots well and I played the Vikings. He killed my warlord on the last turn thus snatching a victory.

Here's some photos of the completed Pictish warriors. They are 28mm Blacktree figures. 

Shield Maidens Complete

I've had these figures completed for some time but never got around to basing them. So the basing queue kept getting larger. About a week ago I finally sat down and based about 75 minis all at once. Here they are finished and ready for SAGA. 

I seriously doubt that Viking shield maidens fought top less but I figure that if they can distract my opponent long enough to deliver the final crushing blow then they are doing their job well!

Finished up 19 Picts and just started another 9 plus a few dark age civies.

Getting ready for my next Dux Britainiarum force. My son Ty wants to do a campaign using a Pictish army. He likes the Scots as well for SAGA so we'll use them for both.  These figures that I'm getting ready are made by Black Tree.

Slow Progress

I'm finally feeling 100% again. Some of my time is being applied to the shop area and so the shield maidens are progressing slowly. 

Painting female flesh tones is something I'm not use to. I have to admit it is challenging. 

Shield Maidens

Just getting over a really bad bought of flu. Ugh. Happy to be able to sit and do something!  I decided to finish a full SAGA unit of 8 shield maidens. Here's a couple of photos of the start.

Found a little bit of time today to paint. I finished my first shield maiden. I am going to paint an 8 woman warrior group for Saga. 

Advance the Colors Con

Great convention in Springfield, Ohio this weekend. It is a HMGS Great Lakes chapter con. I played in the SAGA tournament with my brother Ted. He place second and I placed third. He bested me by one technical (slaughter) point!! I was so engrossed in all the games that I only remembered to take photos in the very last one.  I played Vikings and am happy with the way they played. I took a few photos.

The game ended with the remaining mounted troops and their warlord killing my warlord. Fudge!!  Great game and I learned a bunch. 

And there's my friendly opponent Jeff Fletcher who also happened to win the tournament.  Thanks Jeff for a great game and also a big thank you to Steve Phallen for running the tourney.
